John Mark Cavanagh, O.D., is a native of Minnesota who grew up in New Hope, Minnesota. After attending St. John’s University for natural sciences, Dr. Cavanagh excelled in his doctorate program at the University of Houston’s College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude while also being the Secretary of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. He was also a proud member of the Phi Theta Upsilon National Professional Fraternity and many other prestigious organizations throughout his educational years. Dr. Cavanagh has been practicing for 30 years and specializes in contact lenses and disease management. This includes Orthokeratology-Elimination of myopia and astigmatism with overnight gas permeable lenses. Kerataconus - Treatment of diseased corneas with specialty Contact Lens and so much more. Dr. Cavanagh finds the eye the most interesting organ because of it's complexity, direct connection to the brain, and its ability to express human emotions with just a glance. Dr. Cavanagh enjoys spending time at his cabin while enjoying the pleasures of the outdoors, whether it be snowmobiling, hiking, biking, or any other wonderful pastimes Minnesota has to offer. He also enjoys traveling, but especially enjoys his trips to Madison Wisconsin to visit his daughter and son in law to catch a Badgers versus Gophers game.
